Terms of Service
Last updated: February 11, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Releasebot ("Service"), operated by Releasebot ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to comply with these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Releasebot is an AI-powered changelog generation service. It connects to your GitHub repositories and automatically generates human-readable release notes when pull requests are merged or code is pushed to tracked branches.
3. Account Registration
You must authenticate via GitHub to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your GitHub account and for all activities that occur through your Releasebot account.
4. Subscription Plans and Billing
- New users receive a 14-day free trial with limited features.
- Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Prices and plan details are listed on our pricing page.
- You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time through your billing settings or the Stripe Customer Portal.
- Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service.
- Abuse rate limits, API endpoints, or AI generation quotas beyond your plan allowance.
- Transmit malicious code, spam, or content that infringes on third-party intellectual property.
- Resell or redistribute the Service without written permission.
6. Intellectual Property
You retain all ownership of your source code and repository content. Changelog entries generated by the Service are owned by you. We retain ownership of the Service, its design, branding, and underlying technology.
7. Data and Privacy
Our use of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described therein.
8. AI-Generated Content
Changelog entries are generated using artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing and editing generated content before publishing.
9. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform scheduled maintenance, and the Service depends on third-party providers including GitHub, Stripe, and AI model providers.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Releasebot shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease, but your published changelog pages may remain accessible for a reasonable wind-down period.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
